I went through four rounds of interviews: a phone screen, a Zoom call, and then two in-person meetings. The initial interviews went smoothly, and I assumed the final interview would be more of a personality fit. I quickly realized I was mistaken. Everyone leading up to the meeting with the CEO was delightful. During that conversation, the CEO introduced an impromptu recruiter-style exercise, even though I was interviewing for an Account Manager role rather than a recruiting position. She shared that my performance did not align with what she was looking for. When I asked follow-up questions, her responses were brief, which left me with the impression that a decision had likely already been made after a month of interviews to fall short in 10 minutes is interesting. After leaving the office, I felt that the company culture may not align with what I’m looking for in a professional environment. Based on the overall experience, I don’t believe the leadership style and culture would be the right fit for me or people looking for a well structured organization.

My interview experience at Boutique Recruiting was unusual and unprofessional. After being contacted by an executive assistant, my scheduled call with the owner, Innesa, was rescheduled twice before finally taking place at 8 PM. During the interview, the discussion shifted from the role and my qualifications to detailed questions about my current employer, including financial aspects that seemed unrelated to the position. At one point, I was directly asked whether my company was seeking acquisition, which felt unexpected and outside the scope of a typical interview discussion. During the call, I agreed to an onsite interview for Thursday, but shortly after, I was asked if I could come in on Wednesday instead. Upon arriving, I noticed a phrase written on a whiteboard that struck me as unprofessional, stating "No fake ****". Once the conversation began, the focus again shifted to my family's company, with questions about margins and requisition loads. Innesa then mentioned an interest in expanding into healthcare recruitment and possibly acquiring the company. When I responded lightheartedly, she later suggested I had not been fully transparent in our first conversation when I stated we were not looking to be acquired. This shift in focus made the interview feel misaligned with its intended purpose and left me uncomfortable. After that discussion, I was asked to wait to speak with another leader. Once in their office, it became clear they were unsure which position I was interviewing for. Midway through our conversation, a team member interrupted to inform the interviewer that Innesa needed them on a call to close a placement. The call, which took priority over my interview, lasted nearly 30 minutes with me still in the room and involved discussing sensitive client and candidate details, including names. On multiple occasions, the call was muted while negative comments, including profanity, were made about the candidate. Overall, the experience raised concerns about professionalism, organization, and confidentiality. Prospective candidates may want to consider these aspects when evaluating opportunities with this company."
