My experience interviewing with Breaktime was overall disorganized and, frankly, unprofessional. During the first round they spent an excessive amount of time talking about themself—so much so that it felt like they were trying to sell me on Breaktime rather than the other way around. While I was genuinely excited about the opportunity and had a rich, relevant background to discuss, I didn't feel like I had the proper time or space to represent myself fully.
After the initial phone screen, I didn’t hear back for over three weeks—an unusually long delay, especially given that I communicated my situation transparently. During that time, I received a competing job offer, and while I kept them updated, Breaktime repeatedly pushed their timeline back. Eventually, when I informed them that I had another offer, they outright rejected me without explanation. When I respectfully asked for feedback on their decision, they never followed up.
This experience wasn't unique to me. A different candidate interviewing for a different role at the same time encountered a similarly unprofessional process. At one point, they were invited to a third-round interview, only to receive another email within the hour stating that breaktime had made a mistake and were still making decisions.
The overall impression I got is that Breaktime operates like a young startup run by people who lack experience in structured hiring processes. The vibe was disorganized, confused, and ultimately a mess. While I was initially interested in the role, this experience made it clear that Breaktime lacks the professionalism and respect candidates deserve
