Had an initial interview with a recruiter from the company who was covering for someone else. Despite this, they did a very good job explaining them, what Brew Digital do, the hiring process and take home projects involved, career progression etc. All-round positive signs. I was happy to continue with the process and we discussed my experiences in detail. Afterwards they said they're going to pass this onto the senior developers who are hiring and will get back. Shortly after the interview I emailed some additional information too them to supplement my application and they were going to also forward this with the lead/senior devs who were hiring. I ended up following this up with the initial recruiter after not hearing by the time I was told I would be, and that's when I was told they were looking for someone more senior with previous experience in working as part of a multi-disciplined team and dealing with complex client issues. This completely contradicted their listing which stated they were hiring across all levels of experience, and nowhere was it mentioned they were looking for someone with this criteria. Their job vacancy plays off a very casual "don't worry if you don't have this." When I contacted them about this they didn't reply back. To make it worse, another employer from Adaptavist (who at the time owned the company) got back clarifying the points of the other recruiter and then saying they were looking for someone with 3 years' of experience, which was now another criteria they were looking for that also wasn't listed. I responded to this, and they also didn't reply. I was then sent a generic feedback email. Looking at their job listings now, it's clear they still haven't taken away some points from this. A note to Brew Digital: Why have a half-done job vacancy listing which encourages people to apply even if they don't have the essential criteria you're looking for and don't advertise to begin with? It's entirely counter-productive. Avoid applying to them - their job vacancies aren't transparent and they play it off with a casual "don't worry if you don't have this, or that etc." At the time of writing this I noticed they're hiring for a Full Stack Web Developer, and the language and tone is still the same. It's a red flag. You don't want to be working for a company that doesn't know how to do their hiring processes properly.
