I found out about the opening from a friend of the manager. I went in for an informal discussion to see if it was something that I was interested in. I set up a date for a formal interview where I was interviewed by a panel of two people. This panel would have been greater had more people been in the office, but both the director and managing director were traveling. It was a very friendly environment. Later that day they requested three references. Two days later they offered the job. I was later told that I had been hired based on the recommendation of my references.
