I applied on-line by filling in their standard application form which is very detailed and job specific. They contacted me for an interview in the outlined in the job advertisement period. The whole process took 3-4 weeks. I was interviewed by a panel of four managers. They tried to put me at ease but they were very serious and formal most of the time and asked me all kinds of questions including a lot of behavioural interview questions. Special attention was paid to questions concerning all the core skills relevant to the position and outlined in the forms attached to the application form. At last they commented on the fact that my start salary would be much lower than my present one. The interview lasted around 50-55 minutes. I think I was very well prepared and I did well at the interview and showed the due enthusiasm for the position and working with the British Council but nevertheless, they contacted me via e-mail within the time they promised they would and as always an e-mail meant they chose someone else. I can't rate the interview as an easy one but it was valuable experience.
