Abysmal experience.
In my initial interview with the recruiter, we had a great conversation about the role. When asked about salary, I stated that I would need to have the top-end of the posted range (this was still 5% below the local market median, and a significant drop from my previously held position). I have 15 years of experience. This was for a Specialist role.
I was moved forward with two on-site interviews, four interviews in total. Great team, great dynamics, and I was well suited for the position.
I was then contacted by the recruiter via phone and offered the position, but it was at a 13% reduction from what we had discussed. I was polite and asked if this could be negotiated, given my experience and our prior discussion.
I was called back and told this offer would stand as-is. On top of that, they informed me I would not be eligible for bonus, even though this was mentioned in the job description! The recruiter told me that the "bonus" simply meant I was eligible for an annual raise. I told her these are not the same thing, and she said she would get back with me to make sure. I said I remain interested in the position, but this offer was very low and I would be happy to speak to the team further.
I was then sent a generic rejection email that I was no longer considered for the position.
Essentially, I was low-balled and they falsely advertised bonus pay. I'm in a bit of disbelief over this experience. An unfortunate waste of time.
