It started out great, a very quick set up of a phone screen, followed by a 2nd round with the hiring manager the next day. The hiring manager was very nice, and we had a good conversation about my experience level and what I'd be doing. However, he was not prepared for the interview. He hadn't reviewed my resume, he basically did it "off the cuff", and even though we were only scheduled for 30 minutes, we went an hour and 15 minutes where I was quizzed about everything under the sun pertaining to a .NET developer. When his alarm dinged for a meeting he had run late to because we went long, I was given about 10 seconds to ask questions of the role. After the interview I received absolutely no response or feedback. This is becoming more and more common and is just not necessary. A simple "we've decided to proceed with other candidates" is all that's necessary to close the loop and let the candidate move on with their job search. Please treat candidates like people, not resources. I understand it was the week of Christmas and resources are different, but candidates are real people with families that are tied to these career decisions. Going into a holiday with that kind of disrespect speaks volumes about the company.
