I am employed, but applied to ButcherBox because I like their product.
The interview was a standard recruiter call and then a call with a technical hiring manager.
I was explained every single framework, language, and even chat tool ButcherBox used internally and repeatedly asked, "have you heard of this?"- There must have been over 15 questions like this.
I would not expect a technically competent person to ask zero technical questions and many "have you heard of this?" questions.
I asked about the technical debt and they avoided the question, and I didn't feel like pressing them. I asked if the engineers were talented individuals and was ignored and told something about inclusion and diversity. It was odd.
I received a rejection email two days later, and asked if I could apply to another position in the future, but was ghosted.
