The interview process wasn't difficult, I actually had very nice conversations with the hiring manager and recruiter when I first started the interview process. They were both professional, well-spoken, accommodating, and passionate about their organization and what they do. Speaking with them made me excited about the potential of jumping in and working there.
The second time I was asked to come in to meet with two other members of the team, was a little different. One of them being a middle-aged male who thought it was appropriate to ask me towards the end of the interview if I had any children. I'm not sure if it was innocent or intentional, but I also don't see him asking that question to male or younger female candidates.
After the interview, I sent writing samples and plans to the hiring manager. I followed up a week later to learn they have decided to go with candidates that were more junior. It sucks after putting in the time, sending them my work they get to refer to, and also feeling slightly discriminated, but whatever is meant to be, will be.
