I had almost 0 interest in attending an interview because the President seemed unprofessional during email exchange. His first and immediate question when emailing to set up an appointment was salary range. He also asked me multiple times if I needed insurance & that would factor into his decision. hmm illegal. Given that I already had many offers ranging well above Calyptus, I felt weirded out by the questions initially and whatever slight curiosity to see what they did or desire to assess if it was a good fit was tarnished. Its as if you are disposable, and he wants the cheapest person possible. Definitely not a mentor who is going to teach you and make you excel. More like abuse you for the cheapest salary rage possible.
At the interview, he had an extremely hard time defining the business, what it does, its future, and they appear to have cash flow issues or they want to overburden each of their staff. He also made comments about how he was much more hardworking & superior in intelligence to everyone at the firm. Red flag! He also disparaged the intelligence of some of his clients or people he trained.
The interview was so unstructured, he asked me almost 0 questions of substance. Then it seemed he was so desperate to hire someone he kept asking me if I wanted an offer. I held off because I knew I didn't want to work there and tried to stall. Something just felt too off about the place.
What was most wrong on my multiple visits & why I feel compelled to write to warn other people is that employees looked miserable. They are all woman reporting to 1 man. One also appears to be related to the President. Other red flags is that the president is the single first author to every document the place has. I guess the two negative reviews proceeding these were immediately confirmed upon survey of the place. Prepare for long hours for way less pay than what is comparable at other consultancies
Ultimately got a low offer after verbally agreeing to something much higher. Like anyone, I tired to negotiate it just as practice for down the road. The reaction was so negative. I've negotiated offers at BCG, Bain, Mckinsey, GLG, and other larger consultancies and research providers. They were all so amendable. If an employer cant offer you money--they usually say "we unfortunately cannot offer you more" This employer reacted so negatively and basically wanted to intimidate me into singing that I just stopped responding or even entertaining it. Don't waste your time. Value yourself higher than this place.
