Finding a job can be overwhelming - plowing through dense, super specific job descriptions, spending hours filling out applications, and then, if you're lucky, you get a tag-team interview that leaves you spinning. This is the headline of the job description. It is on point with the experience I had. 3 interviews total, the final one an in person tag team with the hiring manager watching. Head spinning, absolutely. 1st interview - video call with recruiter. 5 days later - video interview with hiring manager. 20 days later - tag team interview with rest of team. 29 days after final interview - decision phone call. This was a down right brutal experience. Without constant follow up, I don't know if I would have been given a final phone call. During conversations in interviews with both recruiters and hiring team, I disclosed I was had lost housing and was eager to be reemployed as it also meant I could find housing after hire for my daughter and I. A few days after my final interview, I emailed the recruiter and received an out of office reply. My heart sank as I would miss the deadline for my daughter to move with me and she had to enroll in school out of state. Another recruiter called me back and said there was no decision made yet. It would still take another 3 weeks to get an answer. My only feedback for the recruiter is that asking a homeless man for patience requires a certain amount of empathy. I put my all into this process and could have respected the outcome a little more if I had been respected at all during the process. This experience has made me pull myself off the job market to do gig work while decide if I should change career paths or even stay in the state. It's disappointing the diminished image I now have of my banking institution .
