This company is new here. However, it’s off to a rocky start. I interviewed at the company after being invited to an open house. The human resources representatives were reluctant to answer any of my questions and became openly hostile. This is despite the fact that everyone working there understands that years ago, Connexion Point came to Memphis around AEP season and did massive hiring, only to layoff most people after AEP. So, it stands to reason that prospective employees would inquire about the stability of longevity.
Furthermore, one of the human resources managers worked at Connexion Point as a supervisor. She was fired though for her attitude, allegedly. Anyway, her attitude was on full display during the interview. Moreover, the other one wasn’t any better.
They also evaded my questions when I attempted to ask whether they’d follow in Connexion Point’s footsteps and hire a bunch of people, only to lay them off after AEP. She tried to evade answering my question when I inquired who’d pay for agents’ additional licensing. However, I wouldn’t allow her to avoid that one. I found out something else interesting during the interview. Although the position pays $18 an hour, that’s only for agents licensed in 10 or more states. Those that aren’t, start at $15 an hour. After 30 days, the human resources representative said that it goes up to $18 hourly.
From here, I inquired about the company’s incentive trips to get a better idea of them. The human resources representatives were unaware of this. One asked if I confused their incentives for incentive trips. However, I told her that Kristal (the recruiter) briefly explained to me that they were infrequent. She didn’t give me many details. So, I didn’t have much to go off of. One of the recruiters still seemed doubtful. So, I told her that she was welcomed to contact Kristal to get more details.

This led to her mentioning that I’d really have to put up big numbers to achieve that. I told her that I’ve won awards and have always placed high within organizations. So, I’m pretty confident in my sales abilities. The human resources representative then asked how comfortable was I in selling Medicare insurance. So, I told her about my experience at a previous company. Within my 1st month, I became the 2nd rank agent. She inquired about my numbers when I worked in Medicare. I told her that I averaged three sales a week. The human resources representative became bothered by my confidence in my selling ability. The metric is--on average—2 sales a day. She reminded me of the metrics. However, I explained that agents here are dealing with warm leads. From what was described to me by Kristal, the leads are hot leads. I told the human resources representative that—at the time—I was working with cold leads. At my previous foray, we were cold calling. I told her that with—cold leads—you first have to convince the customer not to hang up. With warm leads, that isn’t necessary. They’re already receptive. She told me that their leads have to be convinced not to hang up as well. So, I told her that’d make them make cold leads, then. She left after this. My interview continued with the other human resources representative that was now more hostile than ever. At one point, I saw her do a cut sign to someone behind me. When I inquired about it, she openly became hostile. It’s clear that I’m not going to be hired there. However, to those in Memphis, considering this place, be forewarned. This is a Connexion Point 2.0. The metrics aren’t going to be realistic. Also, many things will change at the fly here. Management is unprofessional. These are bad precursors. Don’t let your permanent job go for this until after 12/07/2019. This may very well be another seasonal gig in disguise. Also, I recommend not making any significant life changes until after six months. Even if it isn’t seasonal, they seem to have unrealistic expectations in place. If this is the case, expect for there to be a high turnover rate. Anyway, only time will tell.
