      Entrevista

I applied directly by sending an email to the address I found on the website and the Managing Director himself replied to me within 24 hours. I was invited to have a quick phone call (around 15 minutes) with the Managing Director who introduced the company and what they do. Next was a video-call interview with the Managing Director for about one hour and a half where I was asked about my sales experience at my previous company. For the second interview I was invited to the office and had the chance to speak with both the Managing Director and the Senior Recruiting Director. Then I was asked to do the role-play telephone calls in order to see how I sound on the phone but mostly to give me a clear idea of the challenges I would encounter when dealing with both candidates and clients. Then the Managing Director showed me the office and I had the chance to meet the other employees. I noticed that the atmosphere was great and I remember I thought it would be great to join the company. For the third and final interview I took a motivators test with the Managing Director and the Senior Recruiting Director, then we compared my results with the other members of CSJ. It was really interesting to see how I would fit the company culture and other people's mindsets.

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 3 dias. Fui entrevistado pela Career Scout Japan (Tóquio) em jul. de 2022

      Entrevista

The interview process was a short phone call. Mainly getting to know more about the company, and the company getting to know about me. Seeing if you are the kind of person who can make conversation easily as well as if you would fit into the work culture. Unfortunately, the recruiting director actively downplayed one of my biggest goals. Made it seem like the Work-life balance at the company would be non-exsistent. (Had to expect 10-12 hour days consistently) Using the fact that they want to be like a traditional Japanese company to be seen as a good company in the eyes of the Japanese as an excuse for extreme working hours. Interviewers tone shifted into slightly negative the moment I said I don't read books as a way to learn, and that I preferred hands on and visual learning mediums when asked. No mention of base salary pay and what KPI's they have. If you live and breath sales, really want to hustle and came to Japan just to sell and sleep. It seems like a great job. Full disclosure. I did not make it to the second interview stage. Which is fine, I was going to only use it at further interviewing practice as I did not like the atmosphere the company gave off.

      Pergunta 1

Why do you want to be a Recruiter? Do you read books? Do you try to learn new things in your own? What goals ate you currently working on? What is your Japanese level? What is your work ethic?

Thank you for having a phone chat with one of our hard-charging Recruiting Directors! I really appreciate you considering our firm to kick start your recruiting career. We believe hiring and training new recruiters without prior experience is the quickest way to deliver first-class recruiting service for our small and medium size company clients and candidates. I totally understand your position regarding work / life balance. I put emphasis on it too as I have two small kids to look after. However, balancing strong achievements and work / life balance at CSJ as a new recruiter, especially for the first year, can be challenging (it's the reality). I'll try to touch on a few points from your post: 1) New consultants will have to learn very fast as they will eventually be put in front of senior executives, hence, we encourage you to develop your expertise as much as possible to bridge the knowledge gap quickly (ie, reading or learning independently) 2) Effort and hard work have a direct correlation to your earnings. The quicker you build your network by working smarter and / or harder, the quicker you'll start earning large commission checks. We pay a maximum commission of 45%. New recruiters that want to maximize compensation for their efforts (including whatever overtime they might incur) will apply themselves to achieve their financial goals. ** The level of overtime incurred is totally up to the new recruiter. The Recruiting Director you spoke with works very smart AND hard, which is why he's a top biller and why I've promoted him three times. We never push anyone to work overtime and make sure our new consultants keep OT levels below the legal limits (I check this on a weekly basis). 3) We are a Japanese company dealing with 99% Japanese customers that is run by non-Japanese who love Japan. Of course, we aren't trying to be a traditional Japanese company, but we do show respect to all Japanese laws and cultural norms. All of our non-Japanese staff are encouraged to improve their Japanese skills (which are at a high level across the company) and to be good citizens. This is, quite simply, the right thing to do. Thanks again for chatting with us and even though we weren't a good match, I encourage you to continue your efforts to enter into the great recruiting industry! I'm sure you'll find a company that is a good fit and be on your way to a fruitful career. Rocco

1st interview - There was a clear explanation of what to expect going into this role. I had no prior sales experience and I got a nice breakdown (analysis) of what a typical day looks like. 2nd interview - We went straight into role-playing some calls. I was able to practice and got immediate feedback for about 5 calls. Overall - It was difficult and I was nervous but I got a clear understanding of what I was heading into. I was also able to meet 2 other managers who were supportive of my role-playing calls. It was a unique atmosphere where I could learn valuable business skills every single day.
