Entered talks with management after being put forward for the position on a recommendation. Initial manager confirmed that I had secured the position, and accepted a salary expectation I requested. I was then forwarded to the HR department, who informed me that their actual offer was to be considerably lower than what the manager had committed to. Without explicitly outlining numbers, the discrepancy was in the thousands. This manager then ceased communication once I inquired as to how this could be the case and I subsequently declined the position through HR due to their refusal to review the original offer. This process wasted 2/3 months of my time and there was a palpable lack of communication within the internal onboarding teams.
