Three rounds of interviews, with the third being a group interview. Fairly straightforward. Was ultimately ghosted, which is disappointing because the interviews seemed to go well. It was an easygoing, conversational interaction. After following up, I was assured they’d get back with me soon, but never received a formal rejection or reply to my additional follow-ups.

Sent me and email about a month after I applied. We then scheduled a phone interview and the time was changed because of conflicts. During the phone interview I did not meet the requirements for the internship and they kept my resume on file.

Tell me about yourself? What classes have you been taking that could help you in this internship?

Very uncomfortable. I was asked very juvenile and 'run-on' type questions. "Why did you use that font? But why? Why do you like it? Why did you use that camera? What brand SD card was in it? When did you buy the camera? What day of the month in 2012 did you buy the camera? Why that day? When did you decide to buy that camera?" Eventually I just started saying "I don't understand the direction of the question."
I felt like I was instantly discriminated against due to my chromosome count. It was instantly aggressive and negative. The individual conducting the interview showed no interest in me or my work, rather was interested in getting me cornered with questioning that had no end. I have experienced interviews many times, I have almost a decade of design experience. This was not my inexperience or unpreparedness. I was initially noticed due to the quality of work in my portfolio by someone that was not even in the interview. I am extremely confident with my portfolio. I have been published by industry recognized magazines, worked with AIGA for years on end, and have award winning advertising campaigns. The person that noticed my work was extremely excited to invite me in as soon as possible for an interview. He/she, unfortunately was not present in the interview for even 20 seconds.
My negative review isn't out of spite. It is the most negative and memorable interview I have ever experienced. It was completely unprofessional, run by one individual that was dressed like someone shopping at Piggly Wiggly on a Sunday evening. I think he/she was actually wearing old New Balance tennis shoes.
Overall. It appears they are a very self important advertising agency with decent work. They have some great concepts for advertising and good production behind their ideas. But they want you to believe that Paul Rand works there. He doesn't. Their work is not changing the industry. Their self written blogs about their quality of work does not inflate the quality. Everyone is a "Junior Art Director" there. That means lowly production Graphic Designer. From my experience, be wary of companies that inflate job titles, offer low compensation, and think they're more important than they really are in the grand spectrum of the industry.
I am currently gainfully employed by a bigger company, with a much better salary and compensation package, that offers much more growth within the company and will be around much longer than Chappell Roberts. It really all worked out in the end for myself. It was a complete waste of my time with no follow up, a horrible, passive aggressive endless interview process lead by an insecure, middle aged individual that thinks he/she is more creative than Mr. Rogers....... It is easy to hide from reality in cheap mom jeans and New Balance lace up runners.
If you want to roll the dice with your time, go for it. The only perk they have is appearing to be self important in the industry. It is typical small time advertising agency mentality. In the end, no one cares. Being happy, having a comfortable work environment with adequate compensation for your time is what matters. No one at the sports bar cares that your business card says "creative director". When they see your mom jeans, they will know it's just a bunch of inflated tripe.......

Why do you like this font? But why? When did you first see this typeface? What were you wearing when you discovered the typeface? What color were your socks when that happened? Why did you wear those socks? Why did you buy those socks? Do you have the receipt for the socks? Why not? But why? What color was the trash can you threw the receipt in? You don't remember? .......oh......... ok...... well....... lets move on.......
