I applied to the Chipotle nearest me that was hiring and within the next day I was emailed an interview time and date. I made sure to do my research on this company beforehand to be prepared and even read through prior interviews on here. Glad I did my part but it was really unnecessary.
I suspect that from the moment I walked in and they had a face to go with the name that I wasn't what they expected, if you get my drift. The workers and manager themselves were all Mexican save for one white.
I arrived 10 minutes early and was prepared to wait as my interview wasn't until 2. Initially it was very busy and loud inside so it took a minute to communicate to a staff member who I was and what I was there for. When I did, he seemed to lose interest and called over another coworker who got the attention of who I assumed was the manager. Once the manager was pointed out to me I went over to him and he told me he'd be with me in a "moment." So I went over and sat at a nearby table in front.
10 mins after 2 he came back over and apologized for the wait telling me it would be a "group" interview and he was waiting for 5 other people. Naturally, I assumed he meant 5 other potential candidates so no problem, right?
That was the last time I saw him.
I waited.....and waited.....and waited. One of the girls who worked there would come over every now and then and apologize saying that it was just really busy and they were slammed. Again, I was understanding because at one point the line WAS almost out the door. However, I noticed even when things slowed to a trickle and nobody was coming in and everyone was eating, still no one came out to interview me.
Finally, after 45 minutes since the time I was supposed to have the interview, the same girl that had been checking in on me sat down to do the interview. I was just as surprised as she and I still don't know if the "other 5" originally mentioned were no-show applicants or other employees who were supposed to interview me in a group, although the only 5 there were the working staff.
From her response it was evident she hadn't been expecting to interview me and she was wholly unprepared. Still, she was very nice and friendly, I felt comfortable talking with her. She asked me a total of 4 questions. Afterwards, she admittedly ran out of things to ask and asked if I had any. I asked a few and then it was over. When she told me within a week or two I would get an email, I knew right then and there I didn't get the job. I mean come on, the manager apparently didn't even see the need to properly introduce himself, much less be a part of the interview. I never even got his name.
Not even a full hour after this, I received the email confirming my suspicions. I laughed. They took their time getting around to interviewing me, but was prompt in letting me know I wouldn't be hired. Go figure. Complete waste of time.
