Applications are filed online now, but were done on paper in the restaurant when I applied. They seek a certain type of person. They look for people who are somewhat hip, and who are definitely laid-back, but energetic about work, and people persons (if front of house). The best way to get an interview is to show interest in and knowledge about the company's practices, such as its history, food sourcing, and its general mission. Unless you are applying for upper management, education and experience are usually irrelevant.

They may ask what your weaknesses are. Just be honest, and try to play on your interests and hobbies to give them an idea of what type of person you are. If you are interested in or skilled at anything unique or unusual, it is a plus if it shows you are interestingly quirky and friendly.

Very brief, was only asked a few questions. I felt a decision about not hiring me was made before the interviewer even sat down. I suspect the interviewer was not accustomed to interviewing and may actually only standing in for a manager that was not working that day
