Recruiter reached out, then approximately 4-5 rounds of interviews. To be honest, most of the interviews were pleasant and helpful, although it did sound like a lot of the people weren't really on the same wavelength. The best part, though: they close the position after all those rounds. Make of that what you will.

The position was brought to my attention via a staffing agency. I completed a series of three in-person interviews. The interview process was extremely informal. So informal, in fact, that several of the people I interviewed with were randomly pulled in to speak with me and didn't seem to know what role I had applied for. I attributed the general lack of preparedness to the fact that they are a start up, though I should have been more wary. When I was asked to come back for a third interview, no one in the office had any specific questions for me. I think I was meant to be introduced to the staff I hadn't yet met (it is hard to say for sure as no one seemed to know what to do with me), but I ended up sitting in the waiting area while several employees were brought over to speak with me. Alarm bells started ringing when one of them openly confessed that there was a lack of structure within the company and general decision-making was a free-for-all. ChromaDex made me an offer, but did not provide any information about their benefits or include the salary I agreed upon with the staffing agency. When I asked the agency to bring this to the attention of the HR team at ChromaDex, I was met with radio silence. It wasn't until I followed up a week later that I was told the company had decided to rescind their offer due to a hiring freeze. All in all, the experience lacked a general sense of professionalism and common courtesy.
