The worst interview of my life in 10 years. Both interviewers had a strong accent (which is understandable since we're in Toronto), but the interview itself was completely disorganized. They kept interrupting each other, and there was no structure at all. The questions they asked had absolutely no relation to the position or my previous experience. At no point did we discuss best practices, architecture, or anything relevant. Instead, they relied solely on theoretical questions that have no real-world application. It felt like knowing how a HashMap is implemented was the ultimate qualification for the job. These people had no practical skills beyond theory. On top of that, I could clearly sense that if you’re not part of a certain community, breaking into the Toronto job market is extremely difficult.
