O processo levou 2 meses. Fui entrevistado pela City of Seattle em out. de 2024
Entrevista
There were two interviews, one was over the phone and the second was a video interview. The questions were given to me a half hour before the interview. Each interview was panel format, which was difficult over the phone.

The first interview had an academic journal article and standard interview questions (tell us about a time you experienced a problem in the workplace, DEI related question). The second interview was more about technical expertise and had specific examples and went into how I would solve it.

The process consisted of two panel interviews, both online. For the second interview, they provided me with a prompt topic about a week in advance and asked me to give a 10 minute PowerPoint presentation followed by Q&A. Interview questions were NOT provided in advance even though most reviews say that they are. So don’t count on that unless the recruiter explicitly tell you that they will. There were no surprise/gotcha questions. Just lean into your qualifications.

Tell us about yourself, walk us through your experience, and answer a few situational questions. Seattle takes racial equity and DEI very seriously, so be prepared to provide your approach to those as well. My second interview was mainly about giving my presentation and more detailed questions about my experience.

Process began by being contacted by the hiring manager after I submitted my application online. We conducted a phone interview where I was asked 6 or 7 pre-determined questions, then I was given an opportunity to ask questions.
The next stage was a practical application exercise. This was moderately difficult given the time constraint.
The last stage was a panel interview on Teams with staff and managers. Again, the questions were pre-determined.
It took a week or two to hear back from the hiring manager. I received a verbal offer, then a written one another week or so later.
Onboarding varies based on where you are working. In my case, the background investigation took about 3 months before I could begin. This was briefed well in advance by the hiring manager. For me this was great to give a long notice period to my former employer and wrap up my work there. I would assume positions working in a less sensitive area may not require a full-scope background investigation, but rather a background check.
