I reached out to a Cloudera recruiter about 2.5 years ago via Linkedin that resulted in a short, informal, follow up phone interview where I was told I did not have enough big data experience and I should consider taking an inside role and then working toward outside sales. At the time, I had 2 year experience in big data but 10 in high tech. Most recently, I apply to several roles, now with 4+ years big data experience, even an internal reference, and - NOTHING. Not even a pre-screen. Around the same time, a former colleague, a man with 0 big data experience finds himself in quick need of a new job and gets an immediate onsite interview where he is treated very well. After hearing this, I searched Linked in and saw what I needed to see. Cloudera, in Texas, seems to prefer to hire women (even experienced) in entry level SDR roles -- and keep them there. It seems they only hire women into experienced outside sales roles in CA. I won't be applying for another position with Cloudera until there is a massive change in leadership in Texas or I see proof in Linkedin they are hiring qualified women in Sr roles. Good luck with your boys club Cloudera and I'll be competing on the other side of your customers in the meantime.
