The Cloudinary interview process was refreshingly fast, supportive, and transparent. Every interaction felt thoughtful and encouraging, making it clear they truly value people as much as technical skills. The interviewers made it energising and human.

First round with HR.
Then take home assignment. The assignment was poorly worded and had lots of mistakes in the code. The README files to be used with the assignment are also poorly written and not peer-reviewed.
No one has proofread these take home assignments for years it seems.
Then technical interview on-site, very easy, basic JS and HTML questions.
Then second technical interview over video. Typical 'describe how to work under pressure' questions . Then a bit of technical questions, sort of a 'guess what browser process I'm thinking about right now' questions; not questions that'd explore your understanding of code.

One of the worst interviews ever. They started by reaching out to me with an email thread that lasted a week asking me questions on my background etc. The first round was a phone screen by their HR which was straightforward.
After 5 days, they give me a written exercise which i submit within a day.
After another 5 days they come back to me with another written exercise. A week later they said they would want me to come down to their office for an interview with their technical manager. This was when i should have realized how long this would go. The date given to me was another week away.
When i finally went down to their campus, the interview went really well, he seemed happy. The same was said to me by their HR ANOTHER week later and she said she would tell me about the next steps. Which she did again, after another week wherein I would be having a video call with their VP from Israel. That call went really well and he seemed extremely happy and told me the HR would get back to you about the final protocols. Here the real wait begins. 15 DAYS.
P.S. I have been sending them emails on an alternative day basis throughout the process asking them about the proceedings and they do not even acknowledge my emails.
I got a reject after sending them 3 emails within those 15 days and the emails i sent were always short and professional asking them about any progress. No reason for the reject despite me asking them why
The way they handled this whole process was not just extremely disappointing and long but the fact that they have not thought it was fine to give the reason after putting me through 5 rounds of interviews was the worst part.
I really hope they hire better HR and their team at least knows what they want in a candidate and jot down the job requirements in written clearly.
