I applied online and was contacted for a phone interview. It was about 30 minutes and would then proceed to two further interviews. I thought it'd be a good fit since I have some highly relevant if not directly related experiences plus some networking might have helped highlight my application. Unfortunately the interview itself was a bust and the interviewer seemed completely disinterested. As the two roles would work closely together this was very disappointing. While there were no "red flags" it felt like the interviewer was going through the motions, like this was the 30th interview that day or CC already had someone in mind for the role or I was already rejected for some reason and this interview was merely a courtesy for my contact/a way to compile a candidate pool. Maybe it was just a bad moment for the interviewer and I'm sure there are things I could have done better in the interview but it is extremely discouraging to put in the time and effort when it clearly wasn't going to be reciprocated. The only upside is that the rejection came within the timeframe stated (I was prepared to either have to wait for the process to be completed or ghosted).
