The process was disheartening. I was internally encouraged to apply and had strong qualifications that directly matched the role. I prepared thoroughly, including a thoughtful thank-you message and notes to support and uplift others, believing I was a top contender. The panel included people I’d worked closely with, and I felt confident I could bring leadership and expertise to the position. However, I was ultimately passed over without clear feedback. The experience left me feeling misled, disappointed, and defeated—especially given the emotional investment and belief that this was “my moment.” It's difficult when internal candidates with a proven track record are overlooked without meaningful transparency.
