Phone screen, followed by a one hour Teams interview with 2 individuals. The screen was very pleasant and I was looking forward to the interview, but I ended up sorely disappointed.
One person was late to the call and looked like they had just rolled out of bed. The other person grilled me on a couple of items in my resume and was taken aback by the fact that I did not achieve every accomplishment listed on my own (I guess teamwork isn't a part of Copeland's process). They also wanted someone with extensive knowledge of AWS cloud services and how to set up infrastructure, which sounded more akin to a DevOps role. They did stop the interview early, as it was clear that I was not what they were looking for (which is fine by me), but they didn't give me a chance to ask any questions.
I will not gloss over the fact that my A-game was not on display, but the demeanor of the two people I interviewed with was very off-putting. I did not feel welcome, was not given an opportunity to ask questions about the company, the role, or what I might work on should I want to apply again in the future. Once it became clear I was not what they wanted, they quickly wrapped things up and ended the call without saying goodbye.
Overall, I was not impressed by Copeland if this is the face of their engineering culture. I will not be applying in the future and I recommend you avoid them as well.
