Over the phone. These jobs are a dime a dozen and the interview process is simple because they assume you won't stay so hire you immediately and then you are judged by your working peers. It is difficult to determine over the phone whether or not if you can handle the job so it is in-field that this is determined.

Applied online, was called a few days after, was asked if I have retail or merchandising experience. Then met with my supervisor who explained my responsibilities in greater detail and made sure I am a good fit for this job.
