I was reached out to by an external recruiter. I had a quick 30 minute intro call about the position and company, and we discussed my resume and experience. The next step was a take home HackerRank assessment. It was three coding questions in a language of your choice, one SQL question, and some junk "comp sci" questions. The SQL and coding questions were relatively easy. The IDE was terrible. I was using Java 8 and did not have access to Java 8 classes, like the DateTime classes. One of the questions was about JSON processing, but I was unable to use any of the imported JSON Processors like GSON. The step I made it to was a 30 minute Zoom call with three team members, two engineers and their lead. It was a technical interview with Java, Spring Boot and React trivia questions. It was one of the oddest technical interviews I have had. I have never been asked trivia questions about Spring Boot or Java, so I completely bombed it, makes sense why I did not move onto the next round. The lead and other engineer seemed conceited and were talking down to me. The other engineer, seemed like the only genuine one. The lead interviewer went into a 5 minute tangent showing me how React Components can be re-rendered and how to avoid it. If you don't know trivia questions as relating to their technologies, brush up on them.
