First round was a phone interview, about 30 minutes. Went great, interviewer was impressed with my experience and the organization sounded fantastic.
I was then invited to NYC for an in-person interview. It was understood that we would do an afternoon appointment since I would be traveling to NY. Upon arrival, the interviewer had the incorrect time, and asked me why I was so late. Clearly he didn't check his email to confirm our meeting, or couldn't own up to his error. Then he told me that he had candidates that could start earlier than me, despite confirming that I would only need the standard two-weeks' notice for my current employer. Finally, he told me he would not be moving forward with interviewing me...after inviting me to the city to do so.
Whether he had no intention of interviewing me before that day, or changed his mind because he thought I missed our appointment, he was extremely rude. I truly hope this was an anomaly, but no one deserves their time and preparation be wasted like that. Additionally, he was rude to the front-desk staff when I arrived for my 'interview,' so that I was embarrassed on his behalf and apologized to the front-desk staff as I left. I can't speak to the organization as a whole, but the interviewer for this position was disrespectful in many ways in a very short period of time.
