      Entrevista

Applied on their company's career site. Received a phone call and email from HR the next day and was asked to come in for an interview. I was given a heads up that I need to do a quick aptitude test on the day of the interview. Nothing was mentioned about a take-home test. On the day of the interview, I waited for the Creative Director and Design Lead to come grab me for the interview at the reception area. It turned out the Creative Director was away from the office that day, so the Creative VP joined the interview instead. The interview was pretty average. Took about an hour, more or less. It was mainly the Creative VP asking from her list of questions, while the Design Lead took down the answers (or at least that's what I think she was doing). Most questions were pretty straightforward, asking if I am able to do this and that and my experience. I don't believe they asked any behavioral questions. We did spend some time talking about what the company actually does and its products because in my mind I thought to myself that they barely have any (updated) details on their website and elsewhere. The interview ended with a 3-question aptitude test that I had to do in front of the interviewers to prevent me from cheating. I got the result right on the spot, turned out I didn't do so good because I didn't put in the effort to think with my brain fried after the long Q&A and conversation. They told me not to stress over the result, but I guess they now have the impression that I have no logic LOL. The very last thing they asked me to do before they let me go is the take-home design test. They gave me a week to do it, but I got it done (along with the bonus question) the next day because I wanted to send it back to them with my Thank You email within 24 hours. And I just simply want to get this whole thing off my chest. About a week later, got an email from HR telling me I am not the right fit for the position. No feedback. Overall it's an OK experience for me. I felt that they could have done a phone interview first to screen out unfit candidates with no experience in this and that. Could have saved some time from that during the actual interview. Few impressions from the interview: -------------------------------------- The co-sharing office space didn't excite me at all as it seemed pretty quiet with no one around. I didn't get to see the workplace culture with my own eyes. The vague job requirements confused me because I thought they were looking for someone creative from the job posting, but it turns out they only need someone who can easily apply designs on a template. So I felt that when I answered the "what does your design process look like" question, I went with the research-brainstorm-draft-revision-finalize answer rather than what they actually need their graphic designer to be able to do: just get the design done quick. Conclusion: nothing too exciting about the job in my opinion.

Are you comfortable in designing for a product that doesn't convince you? Are you comfortable in creating a "click-bait" design for a products with "fraud" contents?
