Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 3 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela Datadog (New York, NY) em mai. de 2024
Entrevista
First Stage:
- Interview with Hiring Manager. Exploratory standard initial interview to learn more about the candidate's background. Got the sense that the Hiring Manager didn't understand the questions they were asking.
Second Stage:
- Interview with Senior Manager for one of the Technical Support teams. Easygoing conversation in line with a culture fit determination.
Third Stage:
- Take home HackerRank assessment. Basic SQL, Bash questions followed by a more involved implementation exercise which included installing their agent on a Linux virtual server. You get about an hour and a half to complete all three steps in addition to answering scenario based questions... not nearly enough time.
Fourth Stage: In person top-grading interview.
- As other reviews have mentioned, MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR LINKS TO DOCUMENTATION BEFOREHAND.
Unfortunately, I was one of the unlucky few who was provided the documentation a mere few minutes after initiating my top-grading interview in person.
There were three stages that took place back to back in person over the course of two and a half hours.
A) First Stage - Interview with two managers (one local, one remote)
- This stage primarily involved behavioural questions such as "What would you do in x scenario?", "How would you handle a difficult customer?", etc.
B ) Second Stage - Pair Troubleshooting Session with two managers (one local, one remote)
- Again, fair warning, make sure you ASK FOR THE DOCUMENTATION WELL IN ADVANCE BEFORE YOU GET TO THIS STAGE
- During this session, you will be asked to debug and troubleshoot mock scenarios of issues relating to the DataDog agent. This required looking at logs and trying to decipher what the problems were and talking through your thought process on the steps to resolve the specific issue and then test your solution. Again, they are looking for you to reference their documentation word for word.
C) Third Stage - Interview with the Director of Technical Support
- This was once again a mostly culture fit type of interview. Questions involved previous professional experience, background on company history, etc
Fifth Stage: Rejection or Offer
- This was the most disappointing stage not because I did not receive an offer but because the Technical Solutions Recruiter could not even be bothered to proofread their very poor email template and replace the {{CANDIDATE_FIRST_NAME}} placeholder in the rejection email with my name.
I understand the company must receive a numerous number of applications and can understand the use of a template for rejection letters however, how at least have the common decency to replace a placeholder variable with the candidate's name when sending them a rejection letter.

I applied through LinkedIn. It did not that that long to come back to me. They reviewed my resume and cv, sent me an email to have a phone screening interview.

En total son 5 entrevistas, junto con una asignación para la casa. No te confies porque a pesar de llegar a la última fase puedes ser fácilmente descartada si no respondes las preguntas del director que es quien toma la desicion final

Interview with other engineers on the team (Scenario based, How to handle multiple tickets, How to deal with difficult customers); 4.
