This was difficult for me to answer as I am not a retail "lifer." Most management at Apple is. They are in Retail for Life. So the expectation is that not only are you a Apple cultist (tongue-in-cheek here) but that you also buy into the Apple idea of Retail success. I've had a fair amount of retail experience but it simply does not pay enough for me to live well on. If you need an interesting job at minimum wage (for retail) then stay positive and be prepared to worship the product and the consumer, no matter how loony or evil the consumer treats you. Tough act to swallow for professionals down on their luck in this economy, but if you are good at improvising and can play the part, you will do fine.
