For an organization run by HR professionals and one that offers recruiting services, I was pretty appalled by the lack of consideration for the candidate experience. They dragged the process out for 2+ months, randomly added additional interview stages, didn't deliver on timelines they had promised, were rude during interviews by doing other things on the side (it's virtual - I can still see if you start smirking randomly while your eyes are shifting), etc. They also repeatedly asked the same questions as though they weren't listening to or considering prior discussions which was a waste of time. They especially asked the DEI question 3+ times, yet when asked in return about how their actions manifest in equitable work internally, the best they could do was talk about how they work around people's schedules or offer different meeting times instead of addressing the true questions around culture competencies, diversity and equity issues, etc. After they dragged the process out for 2 months, I received a generic rejection email. The rejection part, I was fine with because I myself had decided to withdraw myself as a candidate at this point. However, the final "ah, I really dodged a bullet" was when they completely ghosted me when I asked for feedback post rejection. To waste a candidate's time for 2+ months and put them through interview stage after stage, and then blatantly ignoring them after they decide to reject you is not a good HR practice. The role had been open since Nov/Dec 2022 and they couldn't hire anyone then so they had to hire an external recruiter to re-do their recruiting process. I saw that they reopened the role for a third time after I was rejected so I guess they didn't hire anyone? How they're offering recruiting services to any other organization is beyond me.
