An interview process typically consists of several stages designed to evaluate a candidate’s skills, experience, and cultural fit for a role. Here's a general breakdown: 📝 1. Application & Resume Screening What happens: You submit your resume and cover letter. The recruiter or hiring manager reviews it to see if your experience matches the job description. Tip: Tailor your resume to highlight relevant skills and achievements. 📞 2. Initial HR or Recruiter Call (Phone/Virtual) Purpose: To assess your interest, availability, salary expectations, and basic qualifications. Typical questions: Tell me about yourself. Why are you interested in this role? What are your salary expectations? 💻 3. Technical / Skills Assessment (Optional) Could include: An online coding test or task. A take-home assignment. A portfolio review (for designers, writers, etc.). 🎤 4. Technical Interview / Team Interview What happens: You'll talk to team members or managers who assess your hands-on skills. Example formats: Coding interview (live or whiteboard) Problem-solving or case study Project walk-through 🧠 5. Behavioral / HR Interview Focus: Soft skills, cultural fit, teamwork, conflict resolution, etc. Common framework: STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) Example questions: Tell me about a time you faced a challenge at work. How do you handle conflict in a team? 🧑‍💼 6. Final Interview / Leadership Round Who you meet: Senior leadership, department heads, or founders. Focus: Vision alignment, high-level goals, leadership qualities, and long-term fit. ✅ 7. Offer & Negotiation If selected: You receive a verbal or written offer. Negotiation: You can discuss salary, role, benefits, joining date, etc. 🚀 8. Onboarding (Post-Hire) Involves: Paperwork, orientation, system access, meeting the team, training.
