I submitted the application from their recruiting website. I had a short screening call with HR about the company, position and my background. Second round was technical take home interview which is related to their real life application. I submitted the assignment and was invited to technical interview with two engineers. The first half part is was me explaining the intention of implementation of home assignment and discussion about what trade offs and alternative approaches and improvement are. Then I was invited to behavioral interview with engineering manager and product owner. Questions was focusing on understanding what both side want and getting know each other, there was nothing complicated. Then supposedly the last interview, I got invited to cultural interview with CPO. This interview completely changed my mind from positive to negative toward the company. He was just going through question lists with no emotion shown on his voice and face and hardly reacted with my answers and then he was yarning without showing any hesitation directly toward camera as for long time as he could take. It was hard to deny that he was reluctantly doing his job and he just wanted to get it done. He probably didn’t care how much his behavior in job interview could influence the publicity of company, Regardless my performance in the interview, in my opinion he should keep respectful and professional. I just can not think of working under such a rude and unprofessional manager no matter how nice engineering team is.

- It was a very pleasant call with the recruiter who was very well prepared and gave a quick walkthrough of their entire business. The next step was a takehome test, which is where we enter murky waters. The task was to create an API and that was all that was mentioned along with the fact that you'd need to use Java, spring and maven/gradle. There was no request/response mockup provided. So imagine my surprise when I hear complaints about how my code was not "production ready" or I didn't provide "API documentation" or "exception handling wasn't provided" (bear in mind that I did have excellent exception handling just that I didn't use Spring Rest Exception handling which is apparently what they were looking for which I was supposed understand by using my jedi mind tricks). I wasted 8 hours of my life doing this very poorly framed take home test without any requirements by creating a dockerized service which also contained a Postgres DB. I'm not sure how realistic their expectation is and how we're supposed to provide such a system with poor requirements to pass their "standards". They even wrote that they want to see what is a minimum viable product we can provide them with! I expect that they want to just use the code prospective candidates provide in their codebase without paying them. I would have not submitted my take home test had I known that they want to just use my code directly(is what I assume). You can’t get free labor from aspiring employees!
