I applied online and was contacted by a recruiter through email to setup an initial chat. About a week later I had a half hour conversation with one of their Android engineers. The conversation was extremely enjoyable and was mostly about hobbies (gaming in particular), goals and company culture. After that I moved on to an online technical screen which was a video chat with screen sharing. My interviewer was the same engineer as before. I was asked to build an Android app from scratch with specifications provided by the engineer. The interviewer was friendly and helpful the entire time. I didn't get to finish the app in the hour given but the interviewer stayed on the phone with me for another 45 minutes and we discussed what I would have done if I kept going. A few days later I was told that I was not moving on. The whole process was about 3 weeks. Retrospective: The entire process was extremely enjoyable and personable. I could tell that Discord would be an amazing place to work. It was pretty apparent that cultural fit was a big factor for them.
