Someone reached out about setting up a Zoom call after I submitted an application and then I had a zoom call with another person from HR. The call lasted about 30 minutes.

I applied for a position that I was overqualified for because I valued the beliefs that I thought this company was about. The CEO came in late to the in-progress interview and remained on her phone after that. She looked me up and down and then went back to her phone. I was astounded at how rude and unprofessional this was. My experience working at corporations left me with a certain level of expectation about professional business practices. A few token lines that stand out: “I don’t know if the person we are looking for lives under a rock. I don’t think for a second that you’re the right fit here just from seeing you for two minutes.” “Your answers give me the impression that you’ve worked at big companies but you’re a snob.” She then said she didn’t have the time to continue with me and walked out. I was left with two of her employees who apologized for her behavior and said that’s why they can’t fill the position. It was clear to me that although the CEO claims to value diversity, there was no representation of that in my interview. Her attitude made it very clear that she was not interested in hiring a qualified, white applicant. For a company with diversity in the name, they don’t practice what they preach.
