First in person interview was standard with typical questions except for a final one to see what your thought process is like. I got a bad feeling quickly as the executives seemed to speak negatively about the last couple of marketing hires and the job description itself was written reactionary based on that. I don't think they got the memo that interviewees should not bash their previous employers and vice versa. I got the feeling that marketing was a company scapegoat. Nevertheless, I agreed to a 3 hour(!) additional interview where they were going to give me a peek under the hood. I have been on similar interviews, but this team was clearly not prepared at all and just seemed to ask questions on the fly. I was not going to give away an entire marketing strategy and tactics for free in an interview. The whole experience was bizarre. There were huge signs of hubris and red flags all over the place.
