      Entrevista

The interview itself was easy and it didn't last more than 15 minutes. I interviewed at Dominique Ansel Kitchen instead of the bakery. They said they liked my personality and I was told to meet with the interviewer at the bakery. Days pass and I wait around the bakery for the person who interviewed. Not only did he never show up when I asked someone who worked at the bakery if he was there, but then I spoke to a girl who brought me downstairs and basically told me I'd be working for a while to see how everything works. Basically, I worked 2 hours for them for absolutely free. Guess they needed a hand around the bakery. I helped out the employees with their tasks and eventually had to do my own. I worked with different kinds of things but not once did I work with the actual barista as to what I applied for. They expect you to know all the names of the dishes and throw you into work without any explanation whatsoever. Some of the employees were friendly while the others were rude and paid little to no mind to me as if I was just in an inconvenience to be there. One lady even spoke to me as if I was on another planet and had no idea how to restock items like I was stupid and it was shocking to say the least. The work space is way too small for employees to even open refrigerators. They expect you to be delicate and not to let any of the pastries fall on the floor but it is near impossible when you're working in such a tight space you can't even open a fridge. Not only that but there's a garbage right next to the fridge in the working area where all the food is and the dishes are rarely cleaned right. The employees all look like they don't have very strong relationships with each other and like they are all waiting for the perfect time to quit. One of the employees I was with even mentioned wanting to quit after just a month of working there while I was next to them, which is shocking since you wouldn't really want to say that around a potential new employee. After that experience, working for them for free and having to work in such a tight space with rude and unwelcoming employees, I decided to decline the offer.

      Entrevista

I was called in for an interview and spoke briefly with someone about the position. She invited me in for a trial day and made it seem like I was likely to get the position. She mentioned that the trail day was to show me around and to fill out paperwork and that I would be there around an hour. When I came in for the trial day, the managers were disappointed that they were going to have to do a trial, which I found to be extremely rude. I was kept there longer than an hour and I wasn't being paid for this trial. It was extremely busy, and they were having me do a lot of the work that the employees were supposed to be doing. It seemed like they kept me longer because they needed the extra help, so this trial day was basically me just doing unpaid work for them. The girl who was "training" me told me that the other employees were rude about new employees doing things wrong. Doesn't seem like a good working environment. I never heard from them again after giving them free labor.
