Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 6 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela DoorDash (Toronto, ON) em fev. de 2019
Entrevista
Contrary to a few reviews on here, I was very pleased with my experience interviewing with DoorDash's S&O team. I had a dedicated recruiter who I felt actually cared about my success, everyone was prompt in their response time, and I genuinely enjoyed solving cases and speaking with everyone I met.
My process was as followed:
1) Online application through the website
2) Phone screen with recruiter
3) Takehome analytics exercise (I spent about 6 hours creating a 15 page report)
4) 1 behavioral interview + 1 case interview (focused on 1 of the 3 sides of their business)
5) Onsite interviews: 2 x 30 min behavioral (via Zoom with senior leaders) + 1 x 45 min case (with a Senior Manager)
6) A final fit interview with a senior leader (Zoom)
I was not a referral, I merely applied online like many other candidates. I did do a few things that I think might help debunk a few claims on here that I feel are unfair.
#1) Understand the business!
When the job posting requires 3+ years of strategy consulting experience, you have to anticipate the interview process to be intensive and highly competitive. This means you have to understand how to structure and analyze business problems in short periods of time, have a solid understanding of how last-mile logistics/on-demand delivery works (do some research) and be able to confidently communicate with your interviewer. You also have to realize that if you don't prepare, it will be obvious to your interviewers and they will have no problem cutting you. It sounds harsh, but if you haven't done your homework, don't bother applying. Also - I want to opine over the reviews here stating that DoorDash (as with almost every other company that does industry-specific case interviews) is 'idea farming'...You can bet your first born child that DoorDash has already come up with, and probably squelched 'your groundbreaking idea' before. The company is not looking to you for new ideas, they're merely making sure that you understand their business and have an innovative mind-set. If it's truly a revolutionary idea, you'll most likely be hired to implement it.
#2) Be flexible
I supported my old firm's recruiting process and I can personally guarantee you that even in a well-established consulting firm, the process is never flawless. Calendars don't align, sometimes your interviewer is having a bad day. It's an error-prone and subjective process that will have bumps along the way - ESPECIALLY for a 5 year old tech company that is trying to scale so quickly!
#3) Ensure the fit is there
As well as preparing for the business side of the interviews, DoorDash will want to know why you're the best fit for them and vice versa. Why do you want them over UberEats or GrubHub. They are looking for people who genuinely want this position, so make sure you have a clear and succinct story as to why DoorDash. Also, don't be afraid to sell yourself and make sure you highlight your skills, especially those that match the job description (data-driven/analytical, problem-solving, scrappy etc). They want to see that you're confident in your ability to immediately hit the ground running.
Overall - I would strongly recommend applying to DoorDash if you know that you really want it. There are some really cool things happening right now, and it is a very exciting time to be joining.

Cases all focused on 1 of the 3 sides of the business, so try to brainstorm all the different problems that Dashers, Customers and Merchants face.

First a screening call with HR, then a take home analytical test, followed by two virtual panel interview rounds with 2-3 people each round. Some of the interviews were behavioral and some were analytical.

Had a recent interview process that started off fine but ended up feeling like a waste of time. The initial phone screen with the recruiter was positive (straightforward, professional, and gave me a good sense of the role).
But the hiring manager interview was… odd. They gave a quick rundown of the position, asked me one question (“tell me about your background”), and that was pretty much it. No real follow-up, no questions about my relevant experience, and no opportunity to actually talk about what I could bring to the role. It didn’t feel like a real interview - more like a box they had to check.
So I wasn’t surprised to hear I wasn’t moving forward. Just disappointed that there wasn’t any meaningful conversation or engagement. Felt like a missed opportunity all around.
