Entrevista
I was approached by an in-house recruiter on LinkedIn for this position twice, and applied the second time. All interviews were arranged by the recruiter. The first interview was a Zoom screening, and set up like an informational interview with a Project Manager who had been through the program. He explained how it was structured, asked me some, informal questions about fit, and allowed me to answer a bunch of questions.
The recruiter messaged me the same day or next day to set up a second Zoom interview with a different manager in the company. I was informed that the second interview would consist of formal/structured interview questions about my skills/experience, but that was not accurate. The interviewer started by asking me to describe what the other interviewer had told me about the position, asked me a vague question about my dissertation research and then made small talk about something only marginally related to the job or my skills. He then ended the interview early. It was really strange, did not follow the format I was told to prepare for, and I didn't feel like I was given any chance to talk about my work experiences or skills as they pertained to the job. It felt like the second interviewer had either decided he didn't want me before he met with me, or it was some sort of undisclosed personality test that I failed.
I didn't get the offer, although the company reached out to me 10 months later encouraging me to apply for the position again. When I asked what the process would be, they ghosted me for a month and then told me I was no longer eligible to apply because I had already interviewed. Very disorganized and frustrating recruiting process, although the first interviewer I spoke to was very nice and the program seemed interesting.

Entrevista
I was contacted by a recruiter through LinkedIn. The first interview was more of a ‘get to know the position’ interview, and when I responded positively to the job description I was invited to the second interview. The second interview included a brief case study. Both interviewers were friendly and professional, and there was plenty of room for me to ask questions as well.

A crucial step was missed in the interview process of a candidate you’re recruiting. What are your next steps?
Initial get to know you 30min chat, longer 30 min chat with higher up which included a (fairly easy) case study question, followed by onsite interview with several team members lasting about 4.5 hours and including lunch.
