Initially did a phone interview with HR and then did another technical interview with the hiring manager. The technical interview was fairly informal and not too rigorous. Since I would have to relocate, the manager spent a good deal of the interview trying to determine if I would be happy long term in the position since there is very little room for advancement at the higher engineering level. The manager mentioned that there was only one Principal engineer. The manager was very honest that Echostar does not pay at the top end of the scale and that the health insurance benefits are below the industry standard.
