Very unprofessional and inexperienced person is taking interview for Engineering Manager position. Maybe they only hire freshers or young developers.
I was interviewed for engineering manager position. I reported 15 min. before the interview time and there was no HR. I was supposed to had direct interview with CTO but security told me he too is not in office and might arrive at 2 in noon. Anyways HR called and asked me to wait. After about 30 mins., I was interviewed by their Senior developers who took my interview for Developer role.🤔I was not certain but had my doubts but I anyway gave the test respecting the procedure. Then there was one-o-one for my answers and it went quite good. But then he asked me for my salary expectations. Common who asks for salary expectations in technical rounds? I told him about my expectations and then we got stuck on role and it's then he realised I am here for engineering manager and he is not the right person to take it. He asked me to wait and then he came up with another sheet and said he will now do the technical assessment.
In this assessment he didn't ask anything but syntaxes. Confined only to node.js and few popular NPMs there was nothing much he had. Like I stated in starting the inexperienced developer asked me questions to which I explained logics but he wanted exact definitions as if I am appearing for my college viva. 😂
Complete waste of my Saturday. I blame management for not able to understand that the person taking interview represents the company and should be polite to everyone. Do tele con, Skype interviews instead of asking for direct face to face. Widen the scope of questions even for developers.
