I had a multi-step interview process for a Business Analyst position. The overall experience was mixed, with both positive aspects and areas that could be improved.
The first step was a 30-minute phone interview, where I mostly spoke about my background. The interviewer asked how I learned about the company and whether I was comfortable with a hybrid work arrangement. The conversation was friendly and casual. I was told I would receive a response by the end of the week, but I didn’t hear back until I followed up. A few days later, I was informed that I had been selected for the next round.
The second stage was a virtual interview with the Business Analyst manager, which lasted around 40 minutes. The main question was to introduce myself in a way that goes beyond what’s on my resume. I was also asked whether I had experience writing user stories, and I was asked to provide examples of both use cases and user stories. The interviewer was very kind and approachable, which made the experience enjoyable.
They mentioned the salary would be around $85,000. I was told I would receive an update within two weeks, but once again, I didn’t receive any communication until I followed up myself. Around ten days after my follow-up email, I was informed that they had hired someone else and that I was not selected.
I sent a thank-you email and kindly asked for feedback on my interview performance, but I did not receive any response.
Pros:
Friendly and professional interviewers
Clear explanation of the role and salary range
Questions were relevant to the position
Cons:
Poor communication regarding next steps and timelines
No response to follow-up emails or feedback request
Overall, the interview process was respectful but lacked transparency and timely communication, especially during the final stages.
