Entrevista
Combined behavioral/technical interview. Showed some code and asked to identify issues/bugs. Nice team and office. Checked references, made a lowball offer, and withdrew offer immediately when I made a counter offer, clearly not open to negotiation and offering well below market wages.

I was flown out to Eugene for an interview that could have been easily conducted via Skype. At least I got to see what Eugene was like and I was able to make the most of the trip. There was a group interview and I did well on a skills assessment. I always enjoy challenges and being put on the spot to complete exercises, so I actually appreciate this part of the experience. The worst part, however, was that it took over 3 weeks to hear back from Emberex with a decision after I was interviewed. After I was finally told that I was not being given an offer, I politely asked if they could provide some kind of feedback to me so that I could potentially improve on whatever deficit they had perceived. A week and a half went by and I politely asked one more time. I still have not heard back. I really dodged a bullet on this one- their actions show a complete lack of respect and professionalism.

The interview was much easier than I was anticipating, assuming you've got the skills. The questions they had asked were all reasonable and it was easy to tell they knew what they were looking for.
Most of the interview process was evaluating my skills directly related to the position. There were a few somewhat personal questions, but they were still related to computers in general. No weird questions like "what are some of your hobbies?" or "what would your co-workers say about you" or "what are some of your weaknesses?". No trick questions either.
In the end, I found out they were looking for a Java programmer - which was "intentionally vague" (not mentioned on the job listing). I turned it down as I do not know Java, and seemed like I would be throwing away all of my current skills for that position. However, they were interested in a skilled programmer even if they do not know java in the hopes that you would learn.
So even if you don't exactly fit their requirements (should they decide to list them), you might still have a chance. You still need the relevant skills, of course, but their skill test is supposed to be language agnostic.
