I recently interviewed for a Risk Associate position and found the experience disappointing and unprofessional. Despite being informed that the interview would be conducted in English, it was held in the interviewers' native language, disregarding the company's multinational status and the importance of inclusivity.
When I asked for feedback on my test, I was told, "This interview is the feedback," in a tone that felt dismissive and unprofessional. The conversation seemed more focused on critiquing my career choices rather than engaging in a constructive dialogue. With over a decade of corporate experience, including roles as a hiring manager, I was dismayed by the lack of professionalism and structure in the interview process.
The compensation offered for the role—2,200 BGN (approximately 1,090+ EUR) for a position requiring dual-language proficiency and shift work, including weekends—was far below industry standards. There was no room for salary negotiation or performance-based bonuses, which was surprising and disheartening. The response to my attempt to discuss salary adjustments was a firm, "The salary is non-negotiable," indicating a lack of flexibility and appreciation for the candidate's experience.
This approach seems to prioritize cost-cutting over attracting and retaining skilled professionals. Comparable roles in the industry offer significantly higher compensation, making this offer unappealing. The job listing has been open for over four months, which speaks to the challenges they might be facing in filling the position.
Overall, the interview process lacked professionalism and did not meet the expectations one would have for a company of this stature. I would not recommend pursuing opportunities here based on my experience. For those in the corporate world who value their skills and experience, this could be a frustrating and unrewarding path.
I hope the company will take steps to improve its hiring process and compensation structure to better align with industry standards and candidate expectations.
