A recruiter reached out, and from there the process looked like this:
1. Initial recruiter call
2. Technical Screening
The recruiter had an emergency so they weren't able to get back to me. I had sent them a message after a couple of weeks or so, and we were able to schedule the technical screening. The technnical screening exercise was not a Leetcode question and focused more on practical coding. It involved several parts building on top of each other.
3. Onsite
Originally, there was to be a system design interview before the onsite, but they were able to combine that with the onsite.
This consisted of 5 interviews:
- System design
- Hiring manager
- Project deepdive to go into details about a project you've work on
- Debugging interview working through debugging an app with bugs in it,
There were technical issues with this step, but the interviewers were able to work with me to find a workaround.
- Meeting with the director of engineering.
And there was a short meeting with the recruiter to just wrap up the interview, convey expectations, and collect feedback. This was really nice because usually, my onsite interviews just end abruptly and I might not know what to expect in terms of next steps and timeline.
I didn't make it to an offer for the team, but they offered to pass my application around to other teams. I agreed, and after finding a team, I went through 2 more interviews including another hiring manager meeting as well as another system design interview (as I didn't perform as well on this part of the first round of onsites).
Everyone I talked to was friendly, and they were all helpful during the interviews. I loved the focus on practical coding questions (v. Leetcode).

Talk about a project that you've worked on that you want to dive into the details on.
Multiple stage interview process, including technical stages of different types. I only spoke with the initial hiring manager as after learning more about the interview process and role it didn't align with my expectations

What was most exciting about the role that made it stand out from other positions I was applying for.

Long process:
Coffee Chat (30 minutes, mostly me asking questions)
Months later I got an email saying thanks for doing the Coffee Chat and if I saw any applicable jobs online I could indicate I was referred from Coffee Chat.
Recruiter Screen (30 minutes)
Coding Challenge
Recruiter Followup to explain final onsite process
Final Onsite: 4 hours of interviews.
In the end it was a waste of time because the recruiter informed me I could work in a location that turned out to be unavailable. Mistakes happen, but this was a big error that led to me being very excited by an offer that I ultimately couldn't accept because of the location.

HR call, phone interview and then onsite with odd frontend, system design and project dive deep. HR responded super slow with only 1 short answer every other day. I didn't feel being valued during the hiring process at least the HR didn't want to hiring at all. They sent a devops engineer to ask project dive deep questions who didn't know what to ask and couldn't follow the entire process. The interviewer didn't prepare anything and didn't know what to ask, they couldn't follow engineering process or feature development or xfn collaborations. Frontend interview was even worse, the interviewer wasn't engaged at all with poor communication skills. He didn't know how to answer clarification questions or provide guidance when I forgot some of the syntax. He pointed me to the wrong direction and wasted tons of time. The only positive round was hiring manager behavioral round, the EM seems friendly and experienced.
