DO NOT SAY you had a horrific safety accident. My boss didn't hire one guy cause of this. The poor kid witnessed a pretty bad lab accident and my boss didn't want to hire him because he was afraid the kid was mentally scarred. Make your response as "light-hearted" as possible.
