Candidatei-me por meio de recrutador(a). O processo levou 2 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela Excella em out. de 2016
Entrevista
I was contacted by a recruiter with the details of this position. After expressing interest, I had an initial phone screen with an internal Excella recruiter who went over the company history and culture. We also discussed my experience. I was then asked to complete a skills assessment online. After about a week, I was asked to come in for an in-person technical interview. This was a one on one interview which lasted about 45 minutes. I went over my experience and then was asked basic coding (textbook) questions. At the end, I completed a coding exercise on paper.
At this point, the feedback was positive and I was asked to come back in for an interview with the partners. This is where everything went downhill. From the moment, the first partner stepped in the room, the tone was very serious and intimidating. The interaction that I received was very different from the other interview experiences posted here. For about an hour, both partners that I met with were very cold to me. I even had to walk myself to the door to leave. The last partner shook my hand and said "You know the way out, right?". After a few days, the recruiter informed me that they didn't think I was a good fit because I wasn't driven or upbeat. I was actually talkative and upbeat the entire time even though they looked upset. I think it was more that my 'look' didn't fit in there. From the initial look on their faces when entering the room, I definitely felt they were not pleased to see a minority female being considered for a senior position that would be client-facing. Even the recruiter was surprised that I made it that far but did not receive an offer. It was for the best.

Candidatei-me por indicação de um funcionário. O processo levou 2 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela Excella (Arlington, VA) em fev. de 2025
Entrevista
The interview process is fairly straight forward. An initial call to determine basic fit and interest in the position, a second technical interview with two developers. Basic questions regarding high level development practices and general experience paired with a short coding challenge. After that there's a final company cultural fit interview with a hiring manager. Overall every party involved was pleasant to talk to and there was never any feeling of actual pressure.
