Candidatei-me por indicação de um funcionário. O processo levou 3 meses. Fui entrevistado pela Exploratorium (San Francisco, CA) em nov. de 2016
Entrevista
Initial interview by phone went well and I was told similar to another reviewer(possibly a colleague of mine) that I was one of the strongest candidates and would proceed to the final rounds. I have 5 years as a prop manager and 17 as a project manager in construction, 2 as an expert witness helping diagnose construction and water shed disputes plus a masters in management.
As I waited for the scheduling of the final group interview days turned to weeks and weeks to months. I would send friendly inquires which were initially ignored and then responded to with an explanation that I was still one of the final top candidates and would be called in for a group interview any day.
In the meantime I received an offer from another company that would have meant commuting to the east bay and had limited time to respond. I unfortunately gambled on the Exploratorium, thinking based on what they were saying that I was possibly the lead candidate. Plus I already temporarily worked for one of the tenants and have the commute figured out. I knew this was a gamble.
Turned out in the end after maybe 3 months of being lead along I was suddenly and coldly dismissed after I inquired about the status. An intern sent me a "cut and paste" rejection suggesting my resumé was not strong enough (as if I had just applied for the job and not already advanced in the interviews). I requested feedback from both the intern and the interviewer thinking that since I had been considered for so long it wasn't an unreasonable thing to ask. Both of my emails were then ignored.
I have been rejected for my share of jobs but never been treated like this before. I grew up idolizing the Exploratorium and thought it might be an amazing and fulfilling place to work but my experience tells me there are problems simmering under the Exploratorium's skin.
