The process is essentially 30 minutes with Head of Engineering, which is then followed up with 2 back-to-back technical rounds. This is then followed up with additional rounds with the team.
The first round was interesting that it was the head of engineering but it was pretty much the initial recruiter style. It would have been more worthwhile to extend this to actually benefit from that time and to review the actual experience related to the role, however it was filled with mostly the individual talking for 20 minutes.
Then came the technical rounds. Coding round was routine coding challenge. System design was just bizarre. Interviewer seemed to have made up the initial scenario 2 minutes before the call. System Design rounds are designed to be generic and vague to evaluate the thought process and attention to detail to derive a solution. However Faire's process was ridiculous where they expected the candidate to create their own problem space. Several follow-up questions to clarify the scenario were met with: "this is your problem". It was evident that there is no respect for diversity of thought and backgrounds. It is expected that individuals fit a mold that has been preconceived by management.
